Accredited Class 2 Trainer Course Specializing in Aikido
We have created a completely new retraining course accredited by the Ministry of Education: 2nd class trainer specializing in aikido. And in 2026, we launched its first run – led by Martin Švihla and Zdenko Reguli.
The course will run for three weekends, and we have already completed the first weekend. Teachers from two countries and six aikido organizations are participating. It is a very special event because people from four very different styles of aikido met on the tatami to inspire each other and improve their coaching skills together.
One of the most important things about the training is that we do not teach what ikyo should look like (because each style has its own version). We teach how to teach aikido so that our training sessions are interesting and functional in all respects for students on the tatami. In doing so, we focus on what we have in common in aikido, regardless of how we teach basic techniques in our clubs or organizations.
The first weekend was about the basic teaching questions “Why? How? and What?” – so we didactically and practically connected the means, methods, and goals of training. Lectures, practical exercises, discussions about situations that we commonly deal with in aikido teaching. We also worked on specific teaching of basic falls and techniques.
The second weekend will be about leading, planning, and evaluating the training process, working with children, youth, and adults. And on the final weekend, we will look at the role of the teacher, dojo management, and the promotion of aikido.
